Have you ever struggled with getting back in shape after months (or even years) of life without physical activities? Or maybe you’re struggling with this right now? If this is the case then read on the article and share with your friends to get them inspired, too.
1. Start slowly, gradually. But do start.
Rome wasn’t built in a day. So remember that it takes time to get back in shape. Do not get discouraged though. Just start. The rest will come along the way. And what if it’s extremely hard for you to start the workout in general? Wear the exercise clothing and just go out of the house. Go for a walk. Do start. It will only get easier.
2. Find a workout buddy or join a fitness class.
Need an extra motivation? You will feel more obliged to go to the gym once you have settled a small arrangement with your friend. Who knows, maybe they also need some inspiration to push them a little bit?
3. Buy a proper gym attire.
Not only will you feel super comfy but such attire will put you in the sporty mood. Don’t spend fortune though, be reasonable. Comfortable and appropriate shoes, a good workout top/tank and shorts or pants will do.
4. Be realistic and set reachable goals.
If you used to run 5 or 10 km in the past, do not force yourself to run the same distance today. Go out to jog for 15 minutes. This will be enough for the first time. You can add up a little more each time you go for jogging. You’ll soon notice how your body starts to getting used to the workout and taking up some more exercise. And you will feel proud!
5. Make this a routine.
Think of your new healthy lifestyle. Start small but think big. You might not be exercising 3 or 4 times per week at the very beginning but why not making it your long-term goal?
6. Reward yourself after each small success.
Success should be celebrated. It keeps you motivated and energized. Whether it’s a bar of dark chocolate, cinema ticket or a new Playstation game, make yourself happy.
And remember, there is no shortcut to success… So keep fighting! :)
